Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State has won the Sardauna Leadership Award of "Governor of the Year" for the north-east region for his administration's efforts at transforming the living conditions of the people of his state.
The award was conferred on the governor by Sardauna Magazine, a monthly publication dedicated to celebrating the legacies and leadership qualities of the late premier of the northern region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto.

At the ceremony which took place yesterday at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, Governor Gaidam was described as a visionary leader who is working to use the lean resources available to his government to make a difference in the life of his people.
The governor was lauded particularly for his effort in the provision of potable water, improvement of the education sector, housing development and the provision of road networks across Yobe State.
The award is normally given to political leaders and administrators who worked to live the vision of the late Sardauna of Sokoto of providing selfless service to the people.
