Yobe State is strategically located relative to the neighbouring States of Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, and Borno States. Indeed, Damaturu serves as a focal town to Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna and Kano to the west, Bauchi, Gombe, Jos and the eastern parts of the country to the south; Borno, Adamawa, the Republics of Cameroon and Chad to the east; and Kano and the Republic of Niger to the North. A railway line also links Gombe – Ashaka - Buni- Yadi, in Gujba Local Government to the south and Lagos - Kaduna - Kano - Nguru to the North.
